Job Summary:

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures in a Level 1 trauma center environment, ensuring patient safety and high-quality image production. This role involves verifying patient identity, positioning patients, operating radiologic equipment including c-arm/o-arm, and maintaining accurate records. The technologist must be able to respond promptly to on-call shifts and work collaboratively within a healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

• Verify patients' identity and review physicians' orders prior to imaging procedures.
• Operate x-ray equipment to capture radiographic images of bones, tissues, and organs as prescribed.
• Explain procedures to patients and address their questions and concerns.
• Position and assist patients, including those with limited mobility, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Handle radiologic equipment safely to minimize patient radiation exposure.
• Observe and interpret patient status to meet age-specific needs during imaging.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
• Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly to management.
• Use electronic patient information systems to verify exam details and maintain accurate records.
• Ensure proper identification and transmission of images to the PACS system.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond within 30 minutes when called.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Valid New York State Radiologic Technologist license or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
• Experience working in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Recent experience (within 8 months) using c-arm and o-arm equipment.
• Recent Operating Room (OR) experience at a trauma 1 center.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to report within 30 minutes to on-call shifts.
• On-call responsibilities include 2-3 call shifts per month, callbacks, and holiday coverage as needed.
• Work environment includes trauma and operating room settings requiring physical stamina and patient handling.

Scheduling:

• Weekend day shifts from Friday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM EST.
• On-call shifts assigned 2-3 times per month with callback and holiday duties as required.
